QUALIFICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC STAFF
Graduate Assistant:A holder of first degree in relevant field from the University of Maiduguri or any other recognized institution at a minimum performance level of Second-Class Upper Division plus NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.
Assistant Lecturer:
Holder of master’s degree of the University of Maiduguri or of any other recognized institution
or
Holder of first degree at a minimum performance level of Second-Class Upper Division plus professional qualification (Accounting-ACA/ACCA; Law-BL; Medicine and Dentistry-MBBS/BDS; Veterinary Medicine - DVM/BVM; Pharmacy-B.Pharm; Engineering-NSE/COREN)
And be of good conduct and demeanour in line with the Code of Conduct of the University
Lecturer II:
Holder of master’s degree of University of Maiduguri or any other recognized institution with at least three (3) years post qualification experience and relevant professional qualification (Accounting, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, etc.)
And be of good conduct and demeanour in line with the Code of Conduct of the University nnnnnnnn
Lecturer I
for Lecturer I position, you need:
- A Master’s degree, and to have worked as a Lecturer II or equivalent for at least 3 years.
- 4 years of teaching experience and a minimum of 16 points from approved academic publications.
Alternatively:
You can qualify if you hold a recognized higher professional postgraduate fellowship(e.g., FMCP, PPCS) in Medicine or Dentistry, and have passed Part 1 of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria exam
As always, candidates must display good conduct and professionalism.
Senior Lecturer
To become Senior Lecturer applicants must:
- Have a PhD or its equivalent and have worked as a Lecturer I for 3 years, with 5 years of teaching experience**.
- Show proven ability in teaching and supervision at the postgraduate level.
- Have at least 32 publication points, with 12 of those published since your last promotion.
- Demonstrate integrity and compliance with the University's Code of Conduct.
2. Non-Teaching (Administrative & Technical) Roles

Qualifications for Non-Teaching Staff
1. Nurse (General Nursing Officer)
- Must hold a B.NSc. degree
- Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
- Must present a NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
2. Medical Laboratory Technologist
- Require an HND or B.Tech. in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Must have a current practicing license and NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
3. Registrar (Medical Officer)
- Must have an MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
- Be registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
- Must have completed NYSC or hold an exemption certificate.
4. Principal Information Officer
- Requires a B.A./B.Sc. in Humanities, Journalism, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, English, Political Science, or related fields.
- Must be a member of a professional body.
- Need at least 9 years of experience.
- Must also present an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate
5. Accountant I
- A B.Sc. in Accountingis required.
- Must have at least 6 years of relevant experience
6. Accountant II
- Must also hold a B.Sc. in Accounting.
- Require 3 years of experience and an
- NYSC discharge/exemption certificate.
7. Engineer I
- A B.Eng. degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Must be registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
8. Engineer II
- A B.Eng. degree in a relevant discipline.
